This is the first step in gaining the skills to operate effectively as a care worker or assistant in nursing in a residential aged care facility, or as a community care worker.
The training will prepare you for work, career progression or further study within the aged, health, disability and community care sectors, including nursing qualifications.
As you progress through your training, we consult closely to make sure you’re getting the practical skills you need to work in aged care. We also help our students get a foothold in the workforce with our Work Placement Program.
You can access this program by direct entry, but it would also be suitable if you have some experience and need to formalise your qualifications.
Training and course requirements
To achieve your qualification and receive a Statement of Attainment, you must meet the following requirements:

- Wear comfortable clothing to classes and enclosed footwear for practical training (work placement may require you to wear a uniform);
- And be physically able to perform the tasks required of direct client care.
