Course Details

The Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance is a Nationally Recognised Training program under Australian Qualification Framework (AQF).

The Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Physiotherapy Specialisation) reflects the role of people who provide therapeutic and program related support to allied health professionals.

Work may include:

  • Conducting therapeutic and program related activities under the guidance of an allied health professional
  • Identifying client circumstances that need additional input from an allied health professional.
  • Working in a specialty area or across an organisation in delivery of allied health assistance services.

This course is part of the Lower fees, local skills initiative, allowing eligible students to pay just half of the standard course fees for training in 2024.

Entry requirements

Entry & eligibility requirements

There are no pre-entry study or qualification requirements, but to be eligible, you must:

  • Reside in Western Australia;
  • Possess suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. you will need to be able to read, understand and communicate care requirements on a care plan);
  • Provide a copy of your passport or photo identification.

Prior to undertaking practical placement, you will be required to provide:

  • Current Police Clearance (no older than six months) or NDIS Worker Screening Check; and
  • Current COVID & flu vaccinations (unless exempt).

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to work in the Allied Health setting under supervision with clearly defined guidelines and treatment plans.

Those who complete this qualification may take their studies further in the growing Allied Health sector.

Study method

Duration, learning method and assessment

The delivery of this qualification is a blended delivery mode of regular attendance to face-to-face workshops and self-study. The total duration for this qualification may be between 6 to 12 months and can be completed at a pace that suits the individual student.

  • Face to face trainer directed workshops
  • Practical skills and written assessments
  • 120 hours of work placement learning

RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment of your prior skills, knowledge and life experiences that can be transferred to complete aspects of your current course requirements.

You might already possess some of the skills or knowledge being assessed on this course. If so, you may not be required to complete one or more of the units of competency.

You first need to apply to have your knowledge and skills assessed for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This must be done when you enrol in the course.

Students may be eligible for state funding, eligibility criteria applies. The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.

The maximum course fee for non-concession students undertaking a targeted fee relief course in 2024 is $1200. For Concession students and youth under 25 years old, the maximum course fees for undertaking a targeted fee relief course in 2024 is $400
