CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support

With this qualification, you'll be able to pursue a career in a range of aged care settings including in-home care, residential aged care, and community-based care. It's ideal for anyone with existing experience working in aged care, but may also be suitable as entry level training if you're just starting your career in this industry.

You'll gain the skills to assess the needs of older people with complex circumstances including those with dementia, and plan and conduct group and recreation programs for seniors. You could be working in the community, in aged care facilities, or with specialist care providers.

There are 18 units of competency included in the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification:

Entry and eligibility requirements

You must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident residing in Western Australia
  • Demonstrate suitable English skills (language, literacy & numeracy). For example, reading and understanding a care plan, communication skills
  • Provide a copy of passport/photo identification


Prior to undertaking practical placement, you must provide:

  • Current COVID-19 vaccination (unless exempt) 
  • Current flu vaccination (unless exempt)
  • Current Police Clearance/NDIS Worker Screening Check
Career & study pathways

Completion of this qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study.

Those with this qualification may continue on to a nursing or community sector qualification.

Mode of delivery, duration and assessment

The delivery of this qualification through a combination of face to face workshops, self study & practical placement.

With support and mentoring from our industry experienced trainers and assessors, the total duration for this qualification may be between 6 to 12 months dependent on the suitable pace for the learner. 

Forms of study include:

  • Face to face trainer led sessions
  • Self-study
  • Practical skills and written assessments
  • 120 hours of work placement, arranged by Amana Living Training Institute
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment of your prior skills, knowledge and life experiences that can be transferred to complete aspects of your current course requirements.

You might already possess some of the skills or knowledge being assessed on this course. If so, you may not be required to complete one or more of the units of competency.

You first need to apply to have your knowledge and skills assessed for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This must be done when you enrol in the course.

There is no cost for this qualification. This qualification is funded by the FEE FREE 2025 government initiative available from 1 January 2025.
