The CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support is a Nationally Recognised Training program under Australian Qualification Framework (AQF). Units of competency

There are 10 units of competency as part of the CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support:

  • CHCCCS044 Follow established person-centered care behaviour
  • CHCDIS017 Facilitate community participation and social inclusion
  • CHCDIS018 Facilitate ongoing skills and development using a person-centered approach
  • CHCDIS019 Provide person-centered service to people with a disability with complex needs
  • CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
  • HLTWHS003 Maintain work health and safety
  • CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues
  • CHCADV001 Facilitate the interests and rights of clients
  • CHCCCS010 Maintain high standard of service
  • CHCDIS020 Work effectively in disability support
Entry requirements

Entry & eligibility requirements

There are prerequisites for this qualification. You must provide evidence for one of the following qualifications to be eligible:

  • Completion of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or 
  • Completion of: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability); or
  • Completion of CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.

You must also:

  • Reside in Western Australia;
  • Possess suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. you will need to be able to read, understand and communicate care requirements on a care plan);
  • Provide a copy of your passport or photo identification.

The Certificate IV in Disability Support reflects the role of workers who provide training and support in a way that empowers people with disabilities to achieve a greater level of independence and self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing in a range of community settings and clients’ homes.

Those who complete this qualification may progress their studies in the Health Care and Disability sectors.

Mode of delivery

Mode of delivery, duration and assessment

This qualification is a blended delivery mode of online learning, regular attendance to face-to-face workshops and self-study. The total duration for this qualification may be between 6 to 12 months and can be completed at a pace that suits the individual student.

Forms of study include:

  • Online learning
  • Face to face trainer led sessions
  • Workshop based practical skills and written assessments
Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment of your prior skills, knowledge and life experiences that can be transferred to complete aspects of your current course requirements.

You might already possess some of the skills or knowledge being assessed on this course. If so, you may not be required to complete one or more of the units of competency.

You first need to apply to have your knowledge and skills assessed for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This must be done when you enrol in the course.

Qualification fees & charges

This qualification is part of the Lower fees, local skills initiative, allowing eligible students to pay just half of the standard course fees for training in 2024.

Concession rate: $266.40* 

Non-concession: $899.10*

Resource Fee: $100

Learners may be eligible for state funding, eligibility criteria applies. The tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as student service and resource fees.

The maximum course fee for non-concession learners undertaking a targeted fee relief course in 2024 is $1200. For concession learners and youth under 25 years old, the maximum course fees for undertaking a targeted fee relief course in 2024 is $400

You may be eligible for help with fees under various Government programs or a reduction of fees through credit transfer.
