Course details
The purpose of this session is to provide the students with an Introduction to Dementia and includes an experiential activity which will enable participants to get a glimpse into the world of the person living with dementia and what it may feel like to experience Dementia. This is non accredited training and there is no assessment of skill.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session, participants will have an understanding of:
- What is Dementia
- Different types, causes and stages
- The potential impact on individuals and their families
- The benefits of taking a person-centred care approach
- Effective communication skills
- Changed behaviour, triggers and strategies
- Importance of reporting and documenting
Entry requirements
There are no pre-entry study or qualification requirements, but to be eligible, you must:
- Possess suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. you will need to be able to read, understand and communicate care requirements on a care plan);
- Be at least 18 years of age
Mode of delivery, duration & learning method
This course will be delivered face-to-face at our Rivervale training venue for the duration of 3 hours by our experience industry Trainers.
This is non accredited training and there is no assessment of skill.
Certification
A Certificate of participation will be issued to each learner confirming the learner outcome.
