About the Entry into Care Roles Skill Set

Get the skills and knowledge required to provide entry level support and basic client care for a range of roles and purposes within the aged care and disability support sectors.

Through this skill set, you'll have the skills and knowledge to start working in the rewarding role of caring for people in their homes, enabling their overall independence.

ENTRY & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements

There are no pre-entry study or qualification requirements, however to be eligible you must:

  • Reside in Western Australia;
  • Possess suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. you will need to be able to read, understand and communicate care requirements on a care plan); and
  • Provide a copy of your passport or photo identification.
  • Be at least 18 years of age

Pathways

The units in this skill set will provide credit towards:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Home & Community)


STUDY METHOD & DURATIOn

Study method & duration

The delivery of this qualification is a blended delivery mode of regular attendance to face-to-face workshops, self-study and practical learning. The total duration for this qualification may be between 2-4 weeks depending on the learner.

Forms of study include:

  • Face to face trainer directed workshops
  • Workshop based practical skills and written assessments
UNITS OF COMPETENCY

Units of Competency

The skill set comprises of three nationally accredited units of competency:

  • HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control
  • CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support
  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Fees

There is no cost for this course. This course is funded by the FEE FREE in 2024 government initiative available from 1 January 2023. Eligibility criteria apply.

Certification

Completing this free skill set will be recognised by a Statement of Attainment for the units listed above.

Statements of Attainment issued by Amana Living Training Institute will be recognised by other Registered Training Organisations (RTO) nationally.
