Manual Handling Refresher - Community Care/Residential Care

Course details

This course is a mix of theory and practical components designed to refresh the skills and knowledge of care workers currently delivering direct client care in either Community Care or Residential Care settings. This course can be used for upskilling or refreshing worker skills and for compliance purposes.

Participants will cover theory topics such as the principles of manual handling, care equipment and duty of care aspect of care workers roles. 

Along with the theory, participants will also have opportunity to practice skills in our purpose built manual handling simulation training room. Each participant will demonstrate skills during the practical session with manual handling equipment such as full and standing hoists, wheelchair and slide sheets and tasks for assisting client with movements.

Entry requirements

To to be eligible, you must:

• Possess suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. you will need to be able to read, understand and communicate care requirements on a care plan);
• Be at least 18 years of age

This is refresher training. All students must have undergone prior Manual Handling training and have an understanding of the principles of Manual Handling and associated work-related tasks.

Duration & learning method

This course is delivered face-to-face at our dedicated training facility in Rivervale for a duration of 3 hours by our experienced industry Trainers.

Certification

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to each learner confirming the learning outcome.
