Course Details

The aim of this course is to provide skills and knowledge required for a worker to care for people with life threatening or life limiting illness or normal aging process using a palliative approach.

Topics can include:

  • The palliative philosophy and approach
  • Physical care towards the end of life
  • Responding to signs of pain and distress
  • Respecting preferences that affect quality of life
  • Communicating with residents and family members
  • Cultural considerations

This course can be customised to meet organisational workforce needs.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements

There are no pre-entry study or qualification requirements, but to be eligible, you must:

  • Possess suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. you will need to be able to read, understand and communicate care requirements on a care plan);
  • Be at least 18 years of age
