Course details

The following will be included in the education session:

  • The basic anatomy of the male and female urinary system
  • Reasons for catheterisation and the different types of urinary catheters and drainage systems
  • Symptoms/indications of need for intervention and when to refer to a health practitioner
  • Urinary Tract Infections, Delirium and Autonomic dysreflexia
  • Catheter management
  • General considerations of urinary catheter management
Entry and eligibility requirements

There are no pre-entry study or qualification requirements, but to be eligible, you must:

  • Possess suitable English language, literacy and numeracy skills (e.g. you will need to be able to read, understand and communicate care requirements on a care plan)
  • Be at least 18 years of age
Mode of delivery, duration and assessment

This course is delivered face to face at our Rivervale training venue for a duration of 1.5 hours by our experienced industry Trainers.
